Mohammed Siraj landed in Mumbai after playing a crucial role in India’s 2-2 draw against England in the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The pacer finished as the leading wicket-taker of the series, claiming an impressive 23 wickets.
At the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Siraj received a warm welcome from fans. They were eager to take selfies and autographs. However, Siraj quickly left the airport to catch a connecting flight to his hometown of Hyderabad.
“We have not spoken to him yet. But we will certainly plan something (felicitation) for him,” a Hyderabad Cricket Association official shared. “It’s a matter of pride for all of us that he did so well for the country in the series against England.”

Siraj’s most memorable performance came on the final day of the fifth Test at the Oval. His five-wicket haul helped India bowl out England for 367 in their pursuit of 374 runs. This secured a six-run victory and the 2-2 series draw.
India’s captain, Shubman Gill, lauded Siraj’s contribution. He said, “He [Siraj] is a captain’s dream. Every ball, every spell he bowled, he gave everything for the team.”
Reflecting on the final day’s challenge, Siraj commented, “I always believe that I can win the game from any point. This morning was no different.”
This outstanding performance has further solidified Siraj’s place as a key pacer for India. His contribution is crucial, especially in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah.
