Arshdeep OUT, 2 Players IN! India’s Likely Playing XI for Super 4s Match Against Pakistan

India’s Likely Playing XI for Super 4s Arshdeep OUT, Bumrah & Chakaravarthy IN

Arshdeep Singh, India’s highest wicket-taker in T20Is, made history on September 19 by becoming the first Indian bowler to take 100 T20I wickets. However, his underwhelming performance against Oman in the Asia Cup Group A match has led to speculation that he will be dropped for India’s Super 4s encounter with Pakistan on Sunday, September 21, in Dubai.

Despite taking one wicket in India’s 21-run win over Oman, Arshdeep failed to impress and is expected to make way for Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakaravarthy, who are set to return to the playing XI.

Bumrah and Chakaravarthy’s Return

Chakaravarthy, the world’s No. 1 T20I bowler, has taken two wickets in the tournament so far and will be keen to make an impact in this high-stakes clash. He will look to build on his recent form and contribute significantly to India’s quest for a fourth consecutive win.

Jasprit Bumrah, who has been instrumental with the ball, is expected to lead the pace attack and strike early in the innings. In India’s previous match against Pakistan on September 14, Bumrah claimed two wickets for 28 runs in his four overs, a performance he will look to replicate.

Possible Changes in Batting Line-up

While Shubman Gill’s recent struggles with the bat may prompt some to expect changes in the batting line-up, it seems unlikely that the Indian team management will make any immediate changes. However, the position of Sanju Samson could be shuffled. Samson, who scored a solid 56 runs from 45 balls against Oman while batting at No. 3, could potentially be moved up the order.

Key Players to Watch

Suryakumar Yadav will be a key player for India, having top-scored in the previous match against Pakistan with an unbeaten 47 runs. He will be hoping to deliver another match-winning performance in this crucial Super 4s clash.

Alongside Suryakumar, all eyes will be on Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma. Both have shown promise in the last two Group A matches but have failed to convert good starts into big scores.

All-Rounders and Spin Attack

Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, and Shivam Dube will continue to serve as India’s three all-rounders. Kuldeep Yadav, who has taken eight wickets in three matches so far, will once again lead the spin attack and look to dominate Pakistan’s batting lineup.

India’s Likely Playing XI:

  • Abhishek Sharma
  • Shubman Gill
  • Sanju Samson (WK)
  • Suryakumar Yadav (C)
  • Tilak Varma
  • Hardik Pandya
  • Axar Patel
  • Shivam Dube
  • Kuldeep Yadav
  • Jasprit Bumrah
  • Varun Chakaravarthy
