Cummins and Hazlewood Return to Nets With Pink Ball Ahead of Brisbane Test

Cummins & Hazlewood Train With Pink Ball Before Gabba Test

Australia received a major boost ahead of the day–night Ashes Test as Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood were spotted bowling with the pink ball during a training session in Sydney on Tuesday (November 25). Photos and clips circulating online show both pacers back in rhythm, raising optimism about their availability for the second Test at The Gabba from December 4 to 8.

Major Boost After Missing the First Test

Both Cummins and Hazlewood were ruled out of the Perth opener due to injury concerns, forcing Australia to rely on Brendan Doggett and Scott Boland. The replacement duo delivered respectable spells—Doggett picked up 3 wickets, while Boland claimed 4 wickets in England’s second innings.

Cummins, who last played for Australia in July 2025, is expected to resume captaincy if he is cleared to return for the pink-ball Test.

Starc Chases a Massive Left-Arm Record

Mitchell Starc was Australia’s standout performer in the Perth Test, producing a sensational 10-wicket haul. His figures included 7/58 in the first innings and 3/55 in the second, earning him the Player of the Match award as Australia wrapped up victory inside two days.

Starc now stands on the brink of history. If he picks up three or more wickets in Brisbane, he will surpass Wasim Akram’s tally of 414 wickets and become the most successful left-arm fast bowler in Test cricket.

Akram claimed 414 wickets from 104 Tests, while Starc currently sits at 402 wickets in 101 Tests and also holds the record for the most wickets in pink-ball Tests — a format where he has consistently dominated.
