Jemimah Rodrigues has been ruled out of the remainder of India’s ODI series against Australia due to a viral fever, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed. As a result, Tejal Hasabnis will replace Rodrigues in the squad. The BCCI Medical Team will continue to monitor Rodrigues’ recovery closely, especially with the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 less than two weeks away, where she is expected to play a pivotal role in India’s campaign.
Jemimah Rodrigues’ Disappointing Series Opener
Rodrigues had a tough outing in the series opener against Australia, scoring just 18 off 26 balls as India posted 281/7. However, Smriti Mandhana, recently crowned ICC Women’s ODI Batter No. 1, played a stylish knock to contribute a half-century. She was supported by Pratika Rawal and Harleen Deol. Despite India’s solid total, Australia successfully chased down the target with brilliant batting performances from Phoebe Litchfield and Beth Mooney.
Tejal Hasabnis Joins India AHEAD of World Cup
Tejal Hasabnis, who has a solid ODI average of 46.66 in six matches, will now be part of the squad for the ongoing Australia ODI series. India will hope that she provides the necessary stability in Rodrigues’ absence as the team gears up for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.
