Lizelle Lee’s unbeaten 59 guided the Hobart Hurricanes to a 16-run DLS victory over the Brisbane Heat in a rain-shortened WBBL 2025 clash at Drummoyne Oval, Sydney. The result extended Hurricanes’ flawless start to the season while leaving the Heat winless after three matches.
Hurricanes Dominate With the Bat Before Rain Hits
Sent in to bat, the Hurricanes were already cruising when rain intervened. Lee was in complete control throughout her 45-ball innings, striking six fours and three sixes while seamlessly handling both the pre- and post-PowerPlay phases.
After posting a franchise-record 91-run opening stand in their previous outing, Lee and Danni Wyatt-Hodge were even better this time. The pair added 109 runs, with Wyatt-Hodge smashing an aggressive 44 off 26 before falling in the final over.
When the innings was reduced to 12 overs, Hurricanes had raced to 114 for 1.
Heat Falter in Steep DLS Chase
Needing 125 under DLS, Brisbane Heat struggled to keep up as regular wickets halted their momentum. Grace Harris (28 off 21) fought to keep them in the contest, but Hurricanes’ bowlers took charge.
