A disturbing incident has shaken the ongoing ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 in India. Two Australian women cricketers were stalked, and one of them molested by a man on a motorcycle in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Police have arrested the suspect.
Incident Near Khajrana Road
The incident occurred on Thursday morning near Khajrana Road. According to Sub-Inspector Nidhi Raghuvanshi, the two players had stepped out of their hotel and were walking towards a café when a man began tailing them on a motorcycle.
He allegedly touched one of the players inappropriately before speeding away.
Immediate Response by Security
The players immediately alerted their team security officer, Danny Simmons, who contacted the local liaison officers. A vehicle was arranged to escort the players back safely.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Himani Mishra met with the two cricketers, recorded their statements, and registered an FIR under Sections 74 (use of criminal force to outrage a woman’s modesty) and 78 (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at MIG police station.
Accused Arrested
A bystander noted the motorcycle’s registration number, which allowed the police to quickly trace and arrest the suspect, identified as Akil Khan.
“Khan has previous criminal cases against him, and the investigation is underway,” ACP Mishra confirmed.
The incident has raised serious concerns over player security during the ongoing global tournament.
