Venkatesh Prasad Set to Become KSCA President Unopposed

Venkatesh Prasad Set to Become KSCA President

Former India fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad is on track to take over as the president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) without any opposition in the upcoming December 7 elections.

Prasad Becomes the Sole Candidate

Prasad’s nomination was cleared by electoral officer Dr. B. Basavaraju (IAS, Retd.) during the screening process.

His path became clear after the other two contenders exited the race:

  • KN Shanth Kumar had his nomination rejected due to technical issues.
  • Kalpana Venkatacahar withdrew her application.

With both candidates out, Prasad now stands as the only nominee for the position.

The KSCA confirmed the development, stating that Prasad is “poised to be elected unopposed.”

Nomination Scrutiny and Approved Candidates

The scrutiny process was led by retired High Court judge Justice Subhash B. Adi.

Along with Prasad, the nominations of several former cricketers were also approved, including:

  • Sujith Somasundar – Vice-President, Secretary
  • Avinash Vaidya – Joint Secretary & Managing Committee

Somasundar recently stepped down from his role as head of education at the BCCI Centre of Excellence to participate in the KSCA elections.

Prasad’s Previous Administrative Experience

Prasad is not new to cricket administration. He earlier served as KSCA vice-president during Anil Kumble’s tenure as president, when Javagal Srinath was secretary. His return marks another significant step in his administrative journey.
