India’s young Test batting star Yashasvi Jaiswal is set to return to domestic cricket just weeks before the much-anticipated Test series against South Africa. According to The Indian Express, Jaiswal has informed the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) that he will be available for Mumbai’s third Ranji Trophy 2025 match against Rajasthan.
Match Details and Schedule
Mumbai will face Rajasthan from November 1 to 4 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. This match will serve as a key opportunity for Jaiswal to get some valuable game time before the South Africa Tests.
The two-match Test series begins on November 14 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, followed by the second Test in Guwahati from November 22 to 26.
Return from Australia Tour
Jaiswal was part of India’s ODI squad during the recently concluded series against Australia but didn’t feature in any of the three matches. He returned home after the third ODI in Sydney on October 25, as he was not included in the T20I squad.
Recent Form and Domestic Record
The 22-year-old last played a competitive match from October 10 to 14 in Delhi against the West Indies, where he smashed an impressive 175 runs in the first innings.
Earlier this year, Jaiswal briefly considered moving to Goa for the domestic season but decided to stay with Mumbai. His most recent Ranji appearance came in January 2025 against Jammu and Kashmir, where he scored 4 and 26 runs.
He also missed the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal and semifinal last season due to his ODI debut against England on February 6 in Nagpur, where he scored 15 runs off 22 balls.
Boost for Mumbai Ahead of Rajasthan Clash
Jaiswal’s inclusion is a big boost for Mumbai, especially as regular opener Ayush Mhatre will be unavailable for the Rajasthan game. Mhatre has been selected in the India A squad for two four-day matches against South Africa A in Bengaluru.
With the South Africa series approaching, the Ranji match gives Jaiswal the perfect platform to get back into red-ball rhythm and sharpen his skills.
