Yuvraj Singh’s Guru Mantra Fuels Abhishek Sharma’s Rise

Yuvraj’s Guru Mantra Powers Abhishek Sharma

Abhishek Sharma has been the talk of the Asia Cup 2025 with his fearless stroke play at the top of the order. The young opener has powered India’s unbeaten run in the tournament, dismantling opposition attacks with ease in the UAE.

Among players with over 100 runs in the competition, Abhishek stands out with a strike-rate of over 200. In four matches, he has piled up 173 runs at an average of 43.25, including a blistering knock of 74.

Yuvraj’s Role as Mentor

Two-time World Cup champion Yuvraj Singh has been pivotal in shaping Abhishek’s mindset and approach. The legendary allrounder has instilled in him the confidence to win games for India single-handedly.

“Yuvi paaji has played a huge role in Abhishek’s growth. He’s his guru and constantly shares his experience with him. When a player who has won two World Cups teaches you, you naturally learn to reach the top level,” Abhishek’s father, Raj Kumar Sharma, told The Times of India.

The Guru Mantra

According to Raj, Yuvraj’s biggest advice has been simple yet profound: “Play according to the situation of the game.” He has urged Abhishek to focus on match-winning contributions rather than personal milestones.

“He always wants Abhishek to bat in a way that helps India win games. Not to play for himself, but for the team,” Raj added.

A Natural Six-Hitter

Apart from his fearless intent, Abhishek’s natural timing and ability to pick the length early have made him a six-hitting machine.

“His six-hitting is God-gifted. He judges line and length much quicker than most batters, which is why he clears the boundary so often. His timing is so pure that when the ball meets his bat, it just flies,” Raj explained.
